The Northeast Fisheries Science Center (NEFSC) is responsible for a major analytical project which will require expertise in the design of experiments and application of advanced survey methodology and estimation. The project will require technical support for the summarization of large data sets. The project deals with the development of a Standardized Bycatch Reporting Methodology (SBRM). Individual will provide assistance in the extraction of data and subsequent analysis of survey catch data for a large number of fish species. that will constitute the analytical core of an omnibus Fishery Management Plan for both New England and Mid-Atlantic Fishery Management Councils. Bycatch constitutes a major source of forgone yield for economically valuable fishery resources and a significant impact in marine ecosystems. Synoptic and estimates of discards are essential for the development of fishery assessment models. Application deadline is not specified.
