Assistant/Associate/Professor (Fisheries Management)

The primary responsibility of this position is to develop a nationally recognized extension and applied research program in the area of fisheries management with an emphasis on marine crustaceans. The Assistant/ Associate Professor will serve as the coastal and marine specialist in the School of Renewable Natural Resources (SRNR) for the LSU Agricultural Center and the Louisiana Sea Grant College Program in all areas pertaining to sustainable fisheries management with an emphasis on marine crustaceans. These include, but are not limited to: 1) essential fisheries habitat, 2) recreational and commercial utilization, 3) sustainability protocols, 4) fishery policy and management issues, 5) marine aquaculture and natural fisheries interactions, and 6) linkages (pre- and post-) between coastal restoration and natural fishery resources. The individual will provide educational opportunities and information to Louisiana’s commercial and recreational fisheries sectors through applied research, training, updates, newsletters, web site, publications, workshops, bulletins, and mass media. Candidate must have a Ph.D. in Fisheries or a related discipline with at least 3 years of experience in outreach and research experience with crab and/or shrimp.
