Volunteer intern placements in the Global Service Corps (GSC) Tanzania Sustainable Agriculture Program are available for periods of nine weeks to six months. Interns pay a fee to GSC and receive technical training in sustainable (bio-intensive) agriculture, animal husbandry, irrigation and rural poultry vaccinations. GSC has been contracted to provide food security training and support as well as HIV/AIDS education in Northern Tanzania rural areas where some of the most underserved Tanzanian population resides. The sustainable agriculture interns will assist in providing trainings in biointensive agriculture improved animal husbandry and appropriate irrigation techniques as well as providing rural poultry vaccinations. Through this program, sustainable agriculture interns have a unique opportunity to work in the remote rural and tribal areas. The sustainable agriculture program also works with the GSC Tanzania HIV/AIDS Program volunteers and interns to educate HIV positive people, their families and orphans about organic small-scale farming.
